Treatment begins with a personalised consultation to assess your skin concerns and determine the most suitable skin booster for you. Small amounts of product are injected into the dermis to deliver hydration and stimulate collagen where topical skincare can’t reach.
Frequently asked questions about chemical peels
They are not “botox” or anti-wrinkle injections, and they are most certainly not filler. They cannot change your face shape or affect the expressions your muscles make. They are made of hyaluronic acid (like in your own body, and maybe your moisturiser) and sometimes some amino acids and vitamins. Injecting them into your skin allows us to get them to the level of your skin that they need to get to. Your skin itself is a barrier, and doesn’t always absorb all the wonderful products you might put on it - and that is where injectable skincare comes in.
These injectables boost the skin’s hydration, help stimulate collagen and improve skin texture, elasticity, skin quality and light reflection. You can think of it as a face mask treatment that lasts for months!
This depends on your starting point, your existing levels of collagen (collagen levels are lowered by the “S”s - smoking, sugar, sun damage and stress), and your age, and capacity to generate collagen. These treatments are hydrating, and stimulatory. By stimulatory, we mean that it stimulates the formation of collagen in your body, but it can take two to four weeks to see the effect of this in the skin, with increased collagen levels. Older patients or those with more damaged skin may need further treatments to achieve best results, but hydration kicks in around one week after treatment, and results improve over the course of three to four weeks. These treatments can be supercharged with collagen supplementation , to maximise your
body’s production of collagen and elastin.
This depends on you! Because these treatments help stimulate collagen - longevity can depend on how well your body is able to produce it, and on lifestyle factors like sun exposure, smoking, stress and sugar consumption. Generally, three to four months is the results time, with treatment advised again at this point to maintain results. This time frame can be up to six months in some lucky patients, but others look for repeat treatment at about three months.
